Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans

Why I love it: So you know that what you’re doing now isn’t working for you but you’re not sure what you want to do instead. This is the best book out there on changing careers. They suggest practical exercises that will help get you unstuck and bust some of the biggest career myths. You’ll get the most from the book if you take the time to do the exercises. It’s also a great resource to work through in a small group with some friends.

Why I love it: This book explains the “why” behind budgets. For many people budgets can feel like a deprivation diet. And who likes diets? But the point of a budget is that you can make decisions that work best for you and give you freedom to live the life you want. Now that’s something we can all get on board with.

Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer

Why I love it: Check out this book for a more spiritual lens on deciding what you want to do next. The author understands that it’s a life-long journey and that our intuition can be a valuable guide. You won’t get advice, just one person’s story of growing in confidence about who they are and what they are meant to do in the world. Not surprisingly that journey goes through learning who they’re not and what they aren’t meant to do in the world. Sound familiar?
